Payroll and Equity Compensation Manager
Job Description
As a member of the Finance team, the Payroll and Equity Compensation Manager is responsible for accurate payroll processing and the administration of equity compensation . The role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll and equity questions and supports the Chief Accounting Officer with ongoing Finance initiatives.
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who is ready to make an impact on a dynamic organization. The Payroll and Equity Compensation Manager will be primarily responsible for administering our Bi-weekly payrolls and equity administration. The manager will work cross functionally with the People Ops and Finance teams and will be responsible for the maintenance of employee payroll records, including pay/status changes, state registration, garnishments, and timekeeping. In addition, the Payroll and Equity Manager will provide equity payroll expertise to internal and external partners, administration of new grants and related vesting of our equity plan, and recording, balancing and reconciling payroll expenses into the company’s financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll:
- Responsible for all aspects of the administration of payroll, timekeeping systems for non salaried employees, taxes, garnishments, etc. in accordance with multiple local, state, and federal laws.
- Partners with appropriate accounting counterparts globally to reconcile payroll systems on a regular basis
- Records employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records within the payroll system. Includes management of all digital employee personnel files.
- Responsible for all year end processes related to payroll
- Keeps informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process and provides information to employees and managers on payroll matters;
- Compiles statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts, and works with business partners to distribute accordingly
- Maintain appropriate documentation to respond to to manage audits, regulatory agency requests, open enrollment, and time-sensitive program updates
- Assists with the new hire onboarding process including orientation, paperwork, system entry, and manager/new hire support.
- Serves as 401(k) fiduciary which includes the reconciliation and payments to the plan
Equity Compensation:
- Manage and administer equity plans, including restricted stock units, options, and performance awards. Â
- Ensure compliance with securities regulations, & tax requirements.
- Reconcile monthly equity activity and assist with the appropriate stock based compensation entries
Overall:
- Maintain effective internal controls for the payroll and equity functions and proactively work with management to identify process improvements and gaps.
- Serves as subject matter expert on equity and payroll issues, collaborating with employees as needed.Â

About You
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or a related field
- Â 5+ Years of experience administering and processing payroll within a variety of organizations (Public company experience preferred)Â
- Â Experience in equity payroll, including restricted stock and options (preferred)
- Â Experience handling multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt population
- Â Experience with ADP and multi company payroll integrations
- Â Experience with Shareworks or similar equity management system preferred
- Â Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to support a variety of Payroll and Equity related customer questions and challenges
- Â CPP/CPM preferred
