Summary of Position:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join the People & Community team. In this role, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist must be extremely detail-oriented, with superior organization skills and the ability to balance/prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of payroll, benefits administration, and compliance support for our team while maintaining a pleasant work environment and positive employee experience.

Payroll & HRIS

  • Perform all payroll functions, including accuracy and timely processing of multi-state bi-weekly payroll, distribution of payroll checks, processing timecards, computing, and maintaining tax deductions and exemptions
  • Complete all income withholding orders (garnishments/tax levy orders) with the garnishment team and submit required documentation in a timely fashion
  • Ensure local and federal state compliance with reporting pay data and wage and hour laws
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic employment and personnel records in the HRIS and all related company files
  • Audit, research, resolve, or escalate issues related to payroll, verification of employment requests, vacation, leave, and/or benefits
  • Run system reports on personnel, pay data, benefits, and other ad hoc requests
  • Research new technologies within Paylocity and other HR platforms to increase efficiency
  • Identify and drive HR process improvement efforts, leveraging systems and tools to automate and eliminate manual work where possible
  • Support employee onboarding experience to get employees set up in company systems and relay all pertinent information to set new hires up for success: background checks, trainings, company policies, calendar, payroll processes, etc.
  • Prompt correspondence with all new hires and employees regarding questions for payroll, onboarding, HRIS, and other HR-related questions

Benefits Administration

  • Administer all employee benefits programs
  • Be the main point of contact for all employee benefits questions and address questions in a timely manner
  • Review monthly invoices to ensure the accuracy of enrolled employees
  • Support the planning and administration of the annual open enrollment period
  • Track ACA compliance and complete monthly audits and keep department head up to date of any changes
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave
  • Assist with market research in company benefits to attract and retain the best talent
  • Communicate changes and required notices to employees

HR Compliance

  • Responsible for all company filings and responses for EEOC, DFEH, EDD, etc.
  • Reply to EDD requests and any unemployment claim or verification in a timely fashion
  • Create and/or update policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed, including Employee Handbook
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and more
  • Tracks employee sick leave and other federal and state leaves (FMLA and Worker’s Compensation)
  • Provide compliance materials to new hires and employees related to workers comp and state and federal laws

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in payroll, human resources, or relevant administrative role
  • Experience with HRIS, preferably Paylocity
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to write effectively, persuasively, and professionally
  • Confident verbal communication
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with competing priorities
  • Maintain a positive attitude under pressure
  • Knowledge of office computer systems
  • Thorough understanding of office management proceduresĀ 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time

Location: We are a hybrid company with hub locations in Los Angeles and New York, however we will consider remote candidates for this role.Ā

Salary Estimation: $55,000-$70,000 Yearly

NVE intends to provide a competitive total compensation package which includes a variety of incentives, benefits, growth and developmental opportunities. There are many factors to the presented salary range, including but not limited to - location, departmental budgets, certifications, and overall job-related qualifications.Ā
