Payroll Director

General Description:

The Payroll Director will oversee and supervise the organizations payroll functions. This role will be an integral member of our growing and dynamic Accounting team and will work closely with the People Operations function.

Payroll Duties/Responsibilities:

• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, immigration changes, leave changes and changes to pay rates
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
• Prepares and understands multi-location payroll and taxes
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
• Provides assistance to both human resources and accounting when necessary
• Processes payroll for 500+ employees
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of State payroll tax laws
• Prior experience with payroll system implementation(s)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
• Experience with ADP and Workday payroll system software preferred
• Strong professional-level presentation skills (written, oral, visual media) with a proven ability to communicate effectively to peers and client groups in group and one-on-one settings

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
• 5+ years of related experience required
• Excellent mathematics and communication skills
