JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose

Oversee the US payroll function to include weekly and semi-monthly payroll, tax, and ADP vendor management

Primary Duties
  • Create and implement a strategy that increases efficiency and improves the payroll procedures.
  • Ensure SOX compliance
  • Partner with finance group to ensure all payments are reconciled
  • Payroll vendor management (currently ADP) - including relationship, follow up on issues for root causes and corrective actions, cost containment, etc.
  • Prepare annual budget for payroll and E-time costs
  • Find cost reductions by improving efficiencies and procedures
  • Update current payroll procedures and create new as needed
  • Ensure payroll team is sufficiently cross trained
  • Develop training for plant payroll analysts
  • Lead RFP process with purchasing prior to expiration of ADP contract
  • Leads a team consisting of a payroll manager, supervisor and analysts
  • Lead activities relating to year-end bonus payments, executive comp payouts and other year-end activities impacting employees
  • Conduct routine audits of data to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Identify legislative updates/changes and ensures implementation
  • Prepare reports and statistics
  • Assist with reconciliation of tax payments and filings completed by ADP as needed
  • Promote a respectful team-oriented work environment
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.


Job Specifications / Requirements
  • Degree in business related discipline (Business, Accounting, Finance, HR, etc.)
  • A minimum of 10 years leading a Payroll/Tax function in a multi-state company (manufacturing company preferred)
  • Strong leader (ability to make decisions, communicate, prioritize tasks, train, motivate)
  • Knowledge of payroll tax and garnishment processing
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, with little supervision
  • Must be a customer-focused with an emphasis on quality, detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent English communication skills - Written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred: knowledge of Workday and ADP systems (specifically GlobalView, e-time and Smart Compliance)
