Cortica is looking for a Payroll Lead to join its growing team!
The Payroll Lead's primary role is to ensure that payroll-related company initiatives and directives from the Director of Payroll are effectively cascaded and disseminated to staff members in the Payroll Department. Payroll Leads are responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in ADP, complying with all applicable state and federal legislation, and will partner as needed with other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies.

What will you do?
- Serve as the first point of contact for all escalated payroll issues.
- Maintain intermediate knowledge of best payroll practices (e.g., Time & Attendance, reconciliations, taxes, garnishments, reporting, off-cycle payments) and makes recommendations as necessary to help ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Conduct various payroll reconciliations and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Provide direction and assistance to department staff regarding payroll processes cascading from the Director of Payroll.
- Monitor staff workload based on input from individual specialists and give recommendations to the Director of Payroll for final decisions on actual adjustments to workload.
- Ensure areas for continuous improvements are identified, prioritized, assigned, and delivered across the regions.
- Coordinate, maintain, and ensure the Standard Operating Procedures are written and updated regarding payroll procedures and processes necessary for reference and training materials.
- Assist the Director of Payroll with quarterly, yearly, and W2 reports (e.g., Quarterly reporting, filings, etc.)
- Provide department training on SOPs and payroll processing to payroll specialists.
- Assist with payroll staffing, selection, orientation, and training of employees.
- Assist the Payroll Director in managing payroll staff by providing recommendations and feedback related to ongoing performance management, counseling, mentoring, coaching, and discipline.
- Provide backup to Payroll Specialists as needed.
- Perform other related duties or projects assigned by the Director of Payroll.
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You have a bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- You have a FPC Certification (highly preferred).
- You have intermediate computer skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- You have intermediate Excel skills (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting etc.).
- You are detailed oriented with a high accuracy rate identifying potential payroll errors.
- You have excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- You have organizational skills for time management.
- You possess a strong work ethic.
- You possess a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- You have advanced skills in ADP Workforce Now or UKG.

The base pay range for this opening is $73,890 to $82,100. According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
