What we're looking for
Vacasa is seeking an experienced payroll leader with a passion for building people and processes. The Payroll Manager will operate as the subject matter expert on complex payroll processes including equity, acquisitions, new entities, and system implementations.This individual will manage effective external client relationships and build relationships with key stakeholders across the Company and Employee Experience business partners. This role will manage in a remote work environment and reports directly to the Principal Accounting Officer.
What you'll do
- Manage and develop a team of payroll professionals to ensure timely and accurate payroll service delivery
- Oversee the activities of the payroll team including the Corporate office, multi-state facilities associated with the U.S. payroll and using an integrated payroll and HRIS system, and all non-U.S. based payroll processing
- Ensure all payroll reports are prepared and reviewed after each payroll and maintained according to Federal and State law, and internal control processes
- Continuously implementing process improvements and optimizing payroll processes, including working closely with our HRIS Team on enhancements to our existing payroll and timekeeping systems
- Manage vendor delivery and expectationsÂ
- Working with tax agencies (Federal, State and Local, including all foreign) to resolve tax issues
- Identifies and coordinates changes in policy and procedures governed by federal, state, and local laws, including foreign locations, that affect the payroll and benefits of our employees
- Develops, maintains and assesses internal controls for payroll processes and related payroll software systems
- Ensures and oversees the development and publishing of payroll policies and end user documentation and provides internal communications, training, and guidance to field payroll systems end users
- Develop and manage metrics for payroll delivery that supports the organization’s overall objectives
Skills you'll need
- Reliable internet connection
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field preferred Â
- CPP Certification a plus
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Highly detail oriented
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to develop people
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to perform and stay focused during high-pressure periods
- Bilingual is a plus
- 7+ years of multi-state payroll experience at a mid-sized company
- 3+ years of global payroll experience
- UKG experience is a plus

Ability to work from home and resides in one of the followings states: AK, AL, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, or WY
You’ll be working in your home office setting. We hold virtual training sessions and weekly team meeting. Occasional offsite team meetings in your region or our HQ locations. Requires frequent, repetitive use of a computer, phone, and office equipment. Requires patient, professional communication with prospective clients, and the ability to build confidence with prospects.
Compensation
- $115000 - $130000 / year
