Group/Division

KLA is well known for its high-performing business model which routinely produces significant profit margins and revenue. Key to supporting KLA business is the finance team that partners with corporate and global business organizations to provide expertise and guidance for developing and executing sound business models and practices. The Finance organization consists of operations and corporate finance teams. The operations finance team influences business decisions by gathering the best available operations information, distilling it and making recommendations to our management team on the best course of action. The corporate team provides a broad range of services, such as financial planning, corporate accounting, tax, industry analysis and benchmarking, internal audits, SEC reporting and merger and acquisition support.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The US Payroll Manager will be responsible for coordinating the processing of company payroll and corporate time and attendance located in 35+ states. Thid role ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. Ensures proper governmental reporting and compliance. Prepares statistical reports as needed. Advises the activities of a staff of payroll administrators. Leads staff including prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance reviews, provide training, mentoring and being responsible for the development of staff.

  • Acts as the functional lead in all applications associated with ADP payroll and tax filings and other supporting systems including system enhancement and reporting
  • Handles the relationship with external payroll service providers and ensure payroll production is running smoothly
  • Leads the month-end financial close process by reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations for payroll related accounts
  • Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions)
  • Ensures all payroll processes are in compliance with SOX, company policy, and with local, state & federal regulations
  • Drives processes to review timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect, reconcile, and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Collaboration with inter-departments to implement system modifications to improve efficiency, and document the payroll process and procedures
  • Develops and maintains internal controls over payroll processes and responsible for all aspects of full cycle payroll
  • Ensures payroll journals and allocations are processed as per close schedule
  • Define and lead M&A integration plan and complete to rapidly onboard new acquisitions into payroll system
  • Coordinates responses to requests from internal and external auditors as well as management
  • Work cross functionally with multiple collaborators (HR, Legal, FP&A, IT, Tax, and external service providers) to identify and run payroll projects centered around Hire-to-Retire processes, that enable and enhance payroll processing aimed at increasing efficiency, scalability, and automation including implementation and optimization of new or existing payroll related systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Level Degree or work experience of 4 years, Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 5 years
  • Seven plus (7+) years of payroll experience in a large, multi-state organization including at least three (3) years of hands-on payroll tax experience and at least five (5) years of experience leading staff
  • Certified payroll professional (CPP) certification a plus
  • ADP Workforce Now payroll software experience preferred
  • Excellent understanding of multi-state payroll and taxes at the federal, state and local level
  • Proactively maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Energetic, positive and customer service-oriented demeanor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting policies/procedures, including the preparation/review of payroll related account reconciliations
  • Experience with integrating payrolls acquired through M&A
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and drive sound business decisions
  • Excellent leadership skills with collaborative approach
  • Comfortable working in a global environment with business partners and team members that may be working from various locations
  • Strong program management and interpersonal skills with an ability to plan and perform multiple tasks
