This is an amazing opportunity for a Payroll Manager looking for their next role. The role is to manage both in-house and outsourced payroll for the UK, Ireland and Nordics countries. The successful candidate will have experience of managing UK and international payrolls or is looking for the next step in their payroll career. Having proven skills in leading and motivating teams to deliver an excellent payroll service. 
Job Summary:

Plans and directs ongoing administration of payroll. Responsible for developing and implementing payroll policies and programs which support legal requirements, organization objectives and local practices.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Directs the efforts of the payroll team in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the organisation
  • Manages the hiring, staffing and maintenance of a diverse and effective team
  • Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of direct reports
  • Resolves payroll issues and problems with employees
  • Acts as liaison between the company and payroll processing organisations
  • Maintains current knowledge of new payroll laws and regulations, as well as changes to existing laws
  • Applies knowledge of industry best practices and new methods and technologies in payroll management
  • Provides analysis and recommendations to business users and customers
  • Works with auditors on payroll related items
  • Reconciles accounts pertaining to payroll
  • Oversees the specification, development and implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports, policies and procedures for internal use
  • Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to ensure proper and efficient handling of payroll processing
  • Provides supervisory support for team members
  • Contributes to the creation of payroll processes, policies and standards
  • Resolves complex payroll processing issues
  • Applies advanced knowledge of technical skills to leverage the skills of others
  • Acts as project lead on payroll projects
  • Makes staffing recommendations and provides performance management for direct team
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Level Specifications:

  • Manages experienced, a team of payroll specialists to deliver payrolls for the UK Ireland and Nordics. The Payroll Manager will be part of the HR team and will work closely with the HR Services Manager and Employee Relations Manager
  • Accountable for the performance and results of a team and department.
  • Interprets and administers policies, processes and procedures that affect direct reports and the workflow of the department. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Contributes to budget development and performance standards of department and direct reports.
  • Assignments are defined in the form of objectives. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, business plans and independent judgment.
  • Collaborates with teams, functional peer group managers and occasionally senior management. Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives.
  • Decisions may have impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in serious delays and considerable expenditures of additional time, people and/or financial resources.


Work Experience:

  • Typically 6+ years including 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Must have experience of inhouse and outsourced payrolls
  • Will have experience of Non-Uk payrolls but this is not essential


Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
