This position is responsible for....

The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of the Company's bi-weekly, multi-state payroll in accordance with local jurisdiction, state and federal payroll laws, and reporting requirements. Establishes related policies, procedures, and associated training and communication. Maintains Sarbanes Oxley internal controls to ensure Payroll expense is accurate. Serves as the subject matter expert and communicates technical concerns to senior management to resolve and remedy.

Your day will be very busy... you will:

• Processes the bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees, including exempt and non-exempt employees. Ensure that employee records, payroll practices, and reporting meet the state and local payroll requirements.

• Serves as the primary liaison with Human Resources and department managers to ensure data within the payroll system remains accurate. Ensure internal controls and policy compliance and remedy policy violations through proper judgment and effective communications.

• Benchmarks current processes against best practice and implement changes as necessary.

• Assesses, trains others, and improves upon the payroll policy, process, and Sarbanes Oxley internal controls. Retain evidence of the internal controls being completed and produce support for the external auditors to prove their effectiveness. Maintain emergency backup procedures, including the training of employees and consultants.

• Payroll/UltiPro/UKG Time Management ("UTM") system administration includes: building reports using Business Intelligence; creating and maintaining direct interfaces between UTM and Oracle ERP; maintaining and updating settings and setup including General Ledger coding, new-hire setup, local tax requirements, workers compensation codes, timekeeping groups, benefits, and other as required. Prepares employee census and other similar reports requiring payroll data.

• Collaborates with Accounting team members to complete cash transactions which fund payroll, retirement and medical accounts, and remit payroll taxes.

• Reconciles General Ledger Payroll accounts and takes action on reconciling differences.

• Reviews employee and payroll data on a quarterly basis in preparation for quarterly/annual reporting, W-2s, tax audits, 401K audits, and workers compensation audits.

• Completes administrative functions including record keeping and filing.

• Remains current on changes to payroll legislations and regulatory requirements and implement changes accordingly.

What your background will be:

• Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of study and 8+ years payroll experience or equivalent combination.
• Certified Payroll Professional ("CPP") preferred.
• Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Power Point capabilities. Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems vlookups and pivot tables.
• Experience with UltiPro/UKG and UltiPro/UKG Business Intelligence highly preferred. Experience with Oracle preferred.
• Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems.
