Payroll & Onboarding Specialist
Job Description
This role will be responsible for processing payroll for our multi-state population of around 4,000+ employees and assisting with the complete onboarding process with continued plans to grow like weeds…pun intended! Our ideal candidate has an incredible keen eye for detail and accuracy and is enthusiastic to learn the role. You have the tenacity to quickly learn GTI’s organization and challenges of the cannabis industry, as well as foresee any obstacles. You are ready to take on a challenge that entails learning new systems, establishing an SOP, platform integrations, all the while executing day-to-day tasks with a high level of accuracy.
ResponsibilitiesÂPayroll Administration 70%Â
- Own and manage bi-weekly payroll runs to ensure accurate payroll is processed timely
- Process employee changes as it relates to compensation, employment status, garnishments
- Setup state and local taxing authorities and respond to tax notices
- Perform year-end responsibilities as it relates to W-2 audit and processing
- Resolve all payroll discrepancies, process adjustments, manual checks and answer employee and management inquiries
- Manage employment reimbursements through payroll vendor
- Own payroll auditing and reporting
Onboarding Administration 30%
- Support employee onboarding process, work with managers to complete new hire electronic paperwork within deadline
- Organize and maintain electronic personnel records
- Assist employees with onboarding questions
- Act as a liaison between Talent and Total Rewards team to ensure all new hires are onboarded using new applicant tracking system (ATS).Â
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of payroll/human resource experience
- Experience processing non-exempt, hourly employees preferred
- Experience owning the complete new hire onboarding process preferred
- Proven experience and success in a fast-paced, high-growth organization
- Advanced computer skills to include data entry in Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels within the organization
- Demonstrated understanding of multi-state wage and labor laws
- Experience using the following products a plus: Kronos, Wurk
- Must pass any and all required background checks Â
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry Â
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of ageÂ
- Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
