Payroll Specialist

Outbrain is seeking an enthusiastic, curious and solutions driven Payroll Specialist to join our People & Culture team in the NYC office supporting our local business in the US. This is a unique opportunity to work for a niche space in the industry as we grow. We’re looking for someone who is a self starter, detail oriented, and an out of the box thinker. You'll work with a team of resourceful, bright and proactive people, who all individually collaborate to a fast-growing team. We are looking for an ambitious go-getter minus the ego, who will strive to add value to the People & Culture team both within the global team.

A day in the life:

• Manage payroll for salaried semi-monthly, biweekly non exempt, commissions, and bonus payments payrolls
• Support Equity payout calculations/analysis/reports
• Liaise with legal and payroll company on any state registrations
• First point of contact for any employee inquiries on payroll or benefits deduction questions
• Maintain the payroll system with employee changes for work/personal/exit/onboarding
• Support any annual audits
• Support Finance with any reconciliations or special reporting
• Support any annual filings (EEOC, annual testings, notices, etc)
• Understand our Benefits offerings and be the first point of contact for any benefits questions
• Support leaves/disability/COBRA cases and support employee questions
• Onboard employees in the payroll platform and verify I9’s
• Manage unemployment claims, employee verifications, etc
• Manage timesheets for Non exempt employees

What you'll bring:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent mathematical and calculation skills
• Experienced in multiple state, local and federal taxes; understand exemptions, tax limits and other earnings limits
• Strong verbal and written communication 
• Ability to collaborate with teams and vendors and be a face of the company
• Knowledge and experience with running different types of payrolls
• Strong experience with garnishments, benefits deductions, reporting
• Strong troubleshooting skills (research and analysis)
• Team player

The pay range for this position is $60,000.00-$75,000.00. The actual amount offered may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to salary, you may be eligible for an equity package, as well as our competitive benefits and perks to support you and your family as part of Outbrain's total rewards package.
