Job Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist to join our North American payroll team located in Milwaukee, WI. In this role you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of assigned payrolls.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Preparation of assigned payrolls including following all balancing guidelines.
  • Processing weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly payrolls for assigned employee groups, which includes data entry, tax updates, direct deposit updates and other miscellaneous payroll entries.
  • Analysis of payroll data to ensure error free processing.
  • Preparation of payroll funding, including payroll tax payments, garnishments and union dues.
  • Computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions and processing terminations.
  • Assure payroll tax deductions comply with all tax laws.
  • Reconciliation of quarterly payroll tax liability.
  • Payroll support on garnishments and levies.
  • Assist in year-end W-2 processing and reporting.
  • Assist in payroll reporting for internal and external customers.
  • Work closely with HR and Benefits, as well as other business units throughout the United States

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience processing large, complex, multi-state payrolls
  • Experience processing Canadian payrolls is a plus
  • Experience processing union payrolls is helpful but not required
  • Extensive working knowledge of payroll tax laws, HR laws, garnishment laws, and garnishment procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow a union contract
  • Advanced excel skills
  • High degree of competency in payroll processing software. Kronos, SAP and/or Ultimate Software is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal instructions and ability to perform basis arithmetic and payroll calculations
  • Attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow HR policies
  • Strong organizational, analytical and documentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with patience
  • Strong Customer service skills
