The Impact You'll Make
The Payroll Specialist is a key member of an inclusive, engaged and high performing team. You'll be responsible for supporting in-house payroll processing in a highly adaptable environment, as the scope of requirements is ever-changing for Grubhub. In addition to reporting, analysis, and general payroll administration, you will work alongside business leaders to support employees, while sharing your passion for numbers and technology.

• Payroll Administration: input payroll data and filling; communicate with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies and auditors
• Calculate payroll earnings and deductions, employee benefits, reconcile discrepancies
• Provide a high level of service to team members: answering inquiries, clarifying and resolving problems related to payroll, benefits, taxation, and other compliance matters
• Prepare and analyze reports for business users; increase automation of reports
• Cross-train to serve as backup processor for vacations or leaves of absence
• Monitor the payroll inbox, answer payroll-related questions and resolve employee issues
• Assist with end-of-year payroll reconciliations and procedures
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies
• Review timesheet entries for discrepancies (e.g. missed hours, excessive overtime, missed punches, and missed lunch breaks)
• Prepare terminations payments to comply with state laws, both on and off-cycle
• Upload payroll inputs into Workday via EIB files (e.g. equity, expenses, etc.)
• Download ADP invoices for reconciliation of disbursements
• Participate in the ongoing development / establishment of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents for accounting policies and regulations
• Key player in an inclusive, engaged and high performing team

What You Bring to the Table

• One or more years of experience in payroll processing within a large (500+ employees) company
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information effectively and professionally
• Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate regarding payroll legislation and issues with employees at all levels is essential
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and efficiently and effectively manage time and tasks according to priority
• High attention to detail and an analytical thought process
• Experience with in-house payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees
• Experience with federal, state and local tax remittances
• Experience using Workday and/or ADP or a desire to become proficient in new systems
• Competency with excel and google sheets
• Designated or working towards Fundamental Payroll Certification/Certified Payroll Professional
• Preference for a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of process automation including robotic process automation would be an asset
