Payroll Specialist

The opportunity

We are looking for a talented Payroll Specialist to join Unity’s growing payroll operations team in India! You will be leading the payroll for India and other key geographies serving as the main point of contact and subject matter expert for all payroll-related matters.

This is a hybrid role based in our Bangalore office. General working hours for this role will be 2pm-11pm IST during the weekdays.

What you'll be doing

• Payroll Preparation: Prepare payrolls for India and other key geographies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This includes processing various payroll transactions and providing regular reports to key partners.
• Off-Cycle Payments: Prepare off-cycle manual payments as needed, including the necessary calculations and system entries.
• Payroll Auditing: Audit payroll data and reports for errors, and resolve any identified payroll issues.
• Issue Resolution and Customer Service: Address payroll issues, resolve concerns in a timely manner, and provide excellent customer service to stakeholders. This includes resolving inquiries related to payroll earnings, deductions, and tax withholding.
• Compliance and Project Assistance: Ensure payroll compliance with company policy and local tax legislation, and assist with payroll projects, including M&A integrations and system implementations.

What we're looking for

• Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in payroll and HRIS software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other databases, with a preference for advanced Excel skills.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, reporting requirements, and labor legislation in India, with experience in processing payroll for other geographies(ex. European region).
• Analytical Skills: An analytical individual with high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proficiency for accuracy.
• Adaptability and Process Management: Ability to work in a regularly changing and fast-paced environment, balancing speed and quality, and thriving in a role involving manual and automated processes in a transactional-based payroll environment.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively collaborate across the company, experience with equity reporting (RSU’s and Stock Options), and a strong understanding of process controls.
