This position provides comprehensive support related to payroll reporting and processing for the day to day operations within the Payroll Department.

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Working with consultants and employees to ensure all time, pay rates, tax jurisdictions, deductions, and earnings, are entered into Nordic's system in an accurate and timely fashion

• Reconciling payroll reports and reviewing deductions and earnings to ensure accuracy

• Analyzing and resolving any problems or inconsistencies with time or pay in a timely, resourceful, and professional manner

• Audit deduction codes against vendor invoices. Identify and correct any discrepancies. Review and adjust processes as necessary to ensure accuracy.

• Ensure new employees are entered correctly and in a timely manner into the payroll system

• Ensure employees are terminated in the payroll system when applicable

• Answers employment verification requests including unemployment in an accurate and timely matter

• Communicating with employees and answering questions regarding their paychecks, and contact them when necessary regarding amounts owed to Nordic

• Handling all confidential information regarding company operations, candidate, consultant, and client information appropriately

• Working on projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis and may assist other corporate initiatives as necessary, directed, assigned, or requested

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferred

• At least one year of experience working in a customer service or position requiring outside-party interactions

• Proficient with basic math and financial calculations

• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail

• Competent keyboard skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite

• Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment

Additional Details

• Occasional travel up to 5% of the time

• Position is remote or can be located in the Greater Madison, WI area
