Payroll Specialist (remote/hybrid opportunity)
Job Description
Summary: This position is responsible for, under general supervision, performing all tasks required to successfully run and process payroll. Respond to associate inquiries.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Import timesheets into a payroll system in order to calculate and process a bi-weekly payroll.
- Input and review data for the recording of new hires (and other status changes), pay rates and changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, direct deposits, etc.
- Maintain the time management system. Open and re-open timesheets, review, audit and approve timesheets for managers who are out of the office, research discrepancies in PTO balances, add holidays to the system for new calendar year and post holidays for new year and recent new hires.
- Under general supervision, complete the maintenance of earnings and deductions codes and record other payroll related functions within the company's HRIS system. Ensure that all taxes, Social Security contributions, contributions to associate benefit programs, and other deductions are withheld from individual paychecks. Assist in the preparation and filing of all required reports and/or payments to government agencies, insurance carriers, other organizations and individual associates.
- Communicate with associates (individually and/or via mass announcements) to explain payroll related items/issues.
- Identify and help resolve payroll related problems within the company, payroll vendor, and banks.
- Prepare and create standard and ad hoc reports and reconcile all payroll related general ledger accounts.
What You'll Bring To The Company:
High school graduate or equivalent education and experience required; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred. Three to six years of payroll experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Ultimate Kronos Group system is strongly desired. Must be well organized, detail oriented and have confidence to work independently but also be a strong team player. Must possess strong math skills and the ability to analyze information and make appropriate conclusions and recommendations. Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is preferred.
