About the Role
This role is temporary due to a seasonal increase in volume - the end date for this role is projected to be April 2023. Any extension of this project is not guaranteed and will be discussed if and when the continued need arises.
Here at Indeed Flex, our Payroll team supports our internal workforce as well as our Flexers - the individuals using our Flex app. As a Payroll Specialist, you will complete tasks that allow payroll to process for the Flexers - assisting with the calculation of wages based on hours worked, reconciling hours with billing statements and company records, and validating data based on internal and external data sources. You will ensure the successful administration of these payments and ensure that all proper deductions such as garnishments, benefits, and other adjustments are accounted for. You will also be the point of contact for workers who are experiencing discrepancies in their pay or who are facing difficulty in receiving payments. In addition, you will support ongoing development of a proprietary payroll system and assist Product and Engineering stakeholders with valuable feedback and direction for automation, rules, and compliance concerns.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Collect, verify, and record employee hours worked from multiple internal and external sources
  • Calculate the appropriate totals incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses, and other ancillary adjustments
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders
  • Administer statements of payment to personnel electronically
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws including remittance of payroll taxes
  • Maintain a database of accurate personnel information and payroll records
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy and accountability
  • Address employee concerns about incorrect payments, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Provide regular reports and updates to department leads and management regarding daily activities and issues
  • Prepare and submit reports to relevant departments and stakeholders regarding payroll financials
  • Support ongoing initiatives for process improvement, data security, data privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience administering payroll with preference to those with a background in the Staffing, Consulting, or Staff Augmentation sectors
  • High level of technical acumen to navigate a suite of software related to completing daily tasks including Payroll system, HRIS, Timekeeping system, Slack, Monday.com, Salesforce, Google WorkPlace / Microsoft Office, etc
  • Expertise in multi-function, a multi-discipline organization with payroll compliance requirements for a remote, asynchronous, and irregular workforce
  • Expertise in payroll administration, garnishments, benefits distribution, and related processes and compliance tasks
  • Expertise in payroll recordkeeping requirements and data privacy/protection
  • Highly attentive to details and able to recognize and correct discrepancies and errors
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse, distributed workforce and multiple stakeholders from various functions at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and complete routine tasks as well as large, complex projects in a timely manner
