Payroll Specialist Summary:  

We are looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and proficient Payroll Specialist to be responsible for all aspects of payroll for an internal payroll process.  The Payroll Specialist's duties include the management of full payroll cycle, working with HR to ensure accuracy in personnel and deduction changes, communication with employees on payroll changes and inquiries, and overseeing payment of state and federal reporting via our payroll provider. This is a new position within Tenstreet as we are bringing Payroll internally.  

 
To be successful as a Payroll Specialist you should have strong math skills, knowledge of payroll standards and laws, strong interpersonal communication, and the ability multitask effectively. Ultimately, an outstanding payroll specialist should be able to manage all aspects of payroll in a timely and accurate manner.  

What you'll do: 

  • Process semi-monthly, multi-state employee payrolls  
  • Set up new tax jurisdictions with payroll vendor and payroll tax compliance  
  • Assist HR to respond to and resolve any inquiries regarding paychecks. 
  • Be a primary point-of-contact for employee inquiries by providing timely customer service to all employees and key business partners. 
  • Reconcile payroll and validate accuracy and completion of data prior to transmission. 
  • Prepare month-end journal entries for the US payroll. 
  • Oversee completion of 401K Audits, Workers compensation audits and any state notices. 
  • Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting (941, W-2, W-2c, etc). 
  • Reconcile payroll, PTO, Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account, Commuter benefits and equity transactions to employee payroll records. 
  • Be the primary point-of-contact for our Payroll vendor and liaise effectively with other vendors. This role may make recommendations or assist with vetting new pay platforms as needed. 
  • Audit and track timesheets. 
  • Manage new state tax registrations. 
  • Ad Hoc duties as needed. 

 You might be a good fit, if: 

  • You have 5+ years full-cycle payroll experience. 
  • Strong HRIS experience preferred 
  • You have Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • You have strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
