Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll for two locations ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies. This role supports payroll-related inquiries maintains payroll records and collaborates with HR and Finance to ensure timely and accurate compensation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees
- Ensure accuracy of timekeeping data including hours worked overtime and PTO
- Maintain and update payroll records deductions and tax withholdings
- Review and audit payroll data to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations
- Manage payroll adjustments such as retroactive pay and bonuses
- Prepare payroll reports for management
- Coordinate with HR on new hires terminations and employee status changes
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws garnishments. and benefit deductions
- Manage year-end processing including W-2's and audits
- Support system implementations related to payroll by providing payroll expertise advising on requirements and executing testing and validation activities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance HR or related field
- 3 - 5 years' payroll processing experience
- Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of payroll systems; experience with Dayforce preferred
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and tax regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy
