Job Description

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. This can be based from either our Norwich, Pontefract or York site.Ā 

  • Support the team processing of the monthly payroll across 3 companies, 2000+ employees
  • Ensure all HMRC returns are made in a timely manner
  • identify areas of improvement for efficiency and cost savings
  • Design and maintain a procedure manual to ensure business continuity
  • Finalise Payroll Checking and seek appropriate sign off if in the Group Payroll Managers absence
  • Facilitate the Onboarding/Transitioning of new companies
  • Supporting team members with resolving processing issues
  • Ensure that we are adhering to current legislation and escalating breaches immediately

Key Accountabilities

  • Review the complex suite of Cascade calculations and ensure they are relevant and accurate as the business grows
  • Support the Group Payroll Manager with purposeful reporting to the wider finance function
  • Ensure the team are GDPR compliant
  • Ensure the team maintains high level of security when transferring data internally and externally
  • Support with internal and external audits and implement any recommendation for improvement
  • Maintain monthly ledgers of debt and advances, use this data to drive improvements based on facts and data
  • Raise ad hoc payment advances with appropriate authorisation
  • Review all Salary Sacrifice arrangements to ensure we are NMW compliant and actively encourage participation across the group
  • Ensure all annual data reviews are undertaken in a timely manner and changes implemented
  • Ensure accurate labour costs are exported from cascade into IFS and meaningful data is supplied to the wider finance team to assist with forecasting and budgets
  • Ensure the team receive necessary support to undertake all processing
  • Keep up to date on relevant legislation and applies it to our working practice
  • Completion of month end payroll journal posting for finance team use
  • Completion of month end balance sheet reconciliations
  • Training of new starters within the team

Qualifications

  • 2+ years Payroll experience in a medium-sized organisation
  • Experience with Cascade Payroll (Desirable)
  • Excellent Microsoft Package understanding, Excel intermediate to advanced level
  • CIPP or equivalent qualification- an advantage
  • Extensive Payroll & legislation knowledge
