Pen Tester

Avint LLC is seeking a motivated and skilled Pen Tester to join our team in the Herndon, VA area. The Pen Tester will be responsible for conducting penetration tests to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities within Treasury and other client systems.

This candidate will perform computer network evaluations to include penetration security assessments in a cybersecurity environment and assist in fulfilling the Treasury's mission to ensure security measures and safeguards are in place to thwart threat attacks and prevent unauthorized access.

Position Responsibilities:

• Define scope and boundaries of the penetration test and receive approval by Agency personnel before conducting any tests
• Provide and coordinate a Rules of Engagement in advance of Penetration Test to define the depth, coverage, limitations, and intensity of the test
• Utilize state of the art security tools, scripts, and exploits to conduct penetration tests to determine system vulnerabilities using applicable standards and Agency policy and guidelines
• Provide findings and results from penetration testing activities in a detailed written report that can serve as an independent vulnerability assessment of the applications and/or technology platforms
• Create, maintain, and update applicable documentation and reports

Requirements

Technical Qualifications:

• Perform penetration tests on computer systems, networks and applications
• Create new testing methods to identify vulnerabilities
• Perform physical security assessments of systems, servers and other network devices to identify areas that require physical protection
• Pinpoint methods and entry points that attackers may use to exploit vulnerabilities or weaknesses
• Search for weaknesses in common software, web applications and proprietary systems
• Research, evaluate, document and discuss findings with IT teams and management
• Review and provide feedback for information security fixes
• Establish improvements for existing security services, including hardware, software, policies and procedures
• Identify areas where improvement is needed in security education and awareness for users
• Be sensitive to corporate considerations when performing testing (i.e. minimize downtime and loss of employee productivity)
• Stay updated on the latest malware and security threats

Qualifications:

• Bachelor in related field or 5 - 8 years of experience
• 5 - 8+ years of experience conducting penetration tests to identify methods for circumventing security features on Federal IT systems, applications, or networks
• Serves as Career Manager responsible for performance management and professional development of lower levels
• Proactively leads teams in the execution of complex tasks with minimal direction and produces high quality results
• Demonstrates mastery of multiple pen tester areas
• Develops subject matter expertise of other staff
• Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, oral and written
• Leads working sessions to solicit ideas and develop innovative solutions
• Promotes collaboration across functional teams
• Develops and presents highly professional presentations, complex ideas, solutions and innovations to clients and Avint Leadership

Must be eligible to obtain a clearance or currently hold an active Secret or Top-Secret clearance
