Job Description

Well, hello theređź‘‹

More than 15 million people use Screencastify to record, edit and share all sorts of amazing videos. We like to think that we've democratized video creation by making it simpler and more affordable than ever before.

Working at Screencastify

At Screencastify, we value accountability, commitment, and speed. We take our responsibility to our users very seriously, so when we miss a deadline or slow down, it matters.

We’re not a pay-your-dues culture; we will train you quickly and then give you substantial responsibility. The better the results you drive, the more you’ll be rewarded.

We’re a competitive culture in some ways, but not in others. On one hand, we love to win, and hate to lose, and if you do great work, you’ll probably inspire someone working with you to try to do even better. But someone else does not need to lose for you to win.

We constantly challenge each other and push our quality of thought and work to new limits. But no matter how strong a disagreement may be, we want to work in a company of deeply good people who treat their colleagues exceptionally well. No matter how talented, we won’t hire jerks.

About the role

We are looking for a well-rounded People and Culture Manager to join our team. The People and Culture Manager will have significant cross-functional responsibilities, and will collaborate closely at all levels throughout the company to help deliver a "people-first" employee experience at Screencastify.

What you'll do:

  • Onboarding and orientation. Develop and oversee an incredible new hire experience, including pre-onboarding and new hire orientation programs.
  • Recruiting. Lead our recruiting process for all new positions, including outreach, screening, and applicant management.
  • Payroll and Benefits management. In coordination with our PEO and carrier connections, manage and support our semi-monthly payroll, and various perks and benefit programs.
  • HR. Assist with employee development, personnel relations, and performance management activities, and contribute to and manage our people related policies (i.e., employee handbook, training and compliance, etc).
  • Office management. General office operations support to help improve and maintain our physical office space and create a welcoming, productive and inclusive environment, including administrative support for our CEO.
  • Culture. Be a leading voice on our Culture Squad and assist in organizing company-wide meetings, social events, lunches, celebrations, and activities.

Requirements

You're perfect for this role if you:

  • Have 4+ years of People Ops experience and are well-versed in the various disciplines of HR (including payroll and benefits administration, full-cycle recruiting, HR policy development, personnel relations, and leading culture and employee engagement activities)
  • Love motivating people and making them feel supported
  • Have excellent communication, mediation, and interpersonal skills
  • Can work independently, collaboratively with others, and enjoy problem solving
  • Are an organized and structured thinker with excellent project management abilities
  • Have good business acumen with a strong sense of accountability and integrity
  • Thrive in a start-up environment and are excited to support and strengthen a winning culture of performance and accountability

This is a Chicago-based hybrid position with 3 days a week in the office.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation. We take a data-driven approach to our compensation strategy so all employees are paid competitively and fairly.
  • 401k & Profit Sharing plan. We want to invest in present you and future you, which is why we offer a generous 401k match + Profit Sharing plan.
  • Flexible time off (FTO) policy. We recognize that time off to rest and recharge is important. The Flexible Time Off Policy (FTO) is designed for our employees to do just that -- balance work and life while maintaining well-being.
  • Flexible work policy. Gone are the days of being in an office from 9-5, Monday through Friday. We recognize there are better ways to measure productivity than counting the number of hours you’re in the office and that sometimes the office isn’t the best place to be productive.
  • Parental leave. Generous paid time off for parents to bond with the newest addition to their family!
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance. We cover 100% of employee medical premiums and 50% of employee dental & vision premiums. Plus, all employees receive a free One Medical membership.
  • Divvy bike membership. If you’re in Chicago, take advantage of an annual Divvy membership -- on us.

At Screencastify, we foster an inclusive, supportive, fun, and challenging team environment. We value having a team that is made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and respect the healthy expression of diverse opinions. We embrace experimentation and the examination of all kinds of ideas through reasoning and testing. Come join us as we continue to change the world through video.

Screencastify is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, genetic information, gender identity, disability, Veteran status or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
