People Operations Business Partner
Job Description
Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.Â
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.
We are looking to hire a People Operations Partner to provide critical support to our teams. This role will partner with staff to develop and execute people strategies and policies focused on organizational effectiveness, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, compensation, compliance, and our DEIB programs.
We are building a People Operations team to support the next phase of growth for Ursa and are looking for a trailblazing People professional. You will help establish a new People Operations Partner model, not only rolling up your sleeves to deliver on the day-to-day people operations and administrative tasks but also tactically assisting the Leadership Team to improve policies and programs in line with Ursa’s business strategy. This role will report to the Manager of People Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with your counterpart (People Operations Business Partner) and the remainder of the team to develop strong team dynamics
- Develop and implement programs, policies, and practices with team leaders throughout Ursa that foster our values, promote team success, and align with the business strategy laid out by the Leadership Team
- Execute a cadence of regular check-ins with team leaders to improve team performance and increase team talent density
- Effectively manage employee relations issues
- Champion inclusion efforts and provide support for initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive culture
- Play a key role in workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, performance management and team member development
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal employment requirements
- Lead the development and implementation of People Ops plans and solutions that deliver results while maintaining an engaged workforce
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to build scalable recruiting and training processes to ensure a sustainable pipeline of external and internal talent
- Coach and guide team leaders on complex people issues, identifying, investigating and resolving employee issues, concerns and complaints
- Develop tools that allow for a data driven approach to People Ops aimed at identifying key trends in the business and proactively provide solutions to potential concerns
- Serve as an advocate for team members while balancing business needs
- Develop and build strong relationships, build trust and maintain confidentiality with leaders and team members
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of Human Resources experience, across multiple HR disciplines (i.e Compensation, Organization Effectiveness, Payroll and Benefits, Operations, Compliance, etc.) with advanced knowledge of at least one discipline.
- Experience utilizing HR analytics using data to influence business leaders and drive decision making
- Involvement in company-wide inclusion efforts
- Experience implementing HR processes in high-growth, start-up companies
- Experience designing and implementing performance management systems
- Experience solving complex employee issues with professionalism, confidentiality, and respect
Benefits Include:Â
- Unlimited PTO - Vacation, Sick, Personal, and BereavementÂ
- Paid maternity/paternity/adoptive leave
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance; Tax Advantage Accounts (HSA/FSA); Employer Paid Short and Long Term Disability, Basic Life, AD&D, and EAP Program; Additional Benefit Options Including Voluntary Life, Emergency Medical Transport, and Pet Insurance
- Retirement Savings Plan - Traditional 401(k) and a Roth 401(k)
