About the team:

The Operations and People team supports the staff of BlueLabs, their work, and their clients. Ops and People at BlueLabs includes People Operations: supporting recruitment, onboarding, and the employee experience; Financial Operations: executing payroll, book-keeping, and financial planning; Technical Operations: supporting application access, asset management, and engineering  and broader Operational Logistics support: coordinating with corporate counsel and supporting facilities operations.

As a member of the Ops & People team, you might answer questions like:

  • What is a current need at BlueLabs, and how can we build a process that addresses it?
  • How can we make existing systems more efficient and values-driven?
  • How can I create a plan that sets BlueLabs, its staff, and its clients up for success?

As part of the Ops & People team at BlueLabs you’ll be working with a team of operations professionals with various work backgrounds and experiences who seek to make Blue Labs a more efficient, compliant, and positive place to work.

About the role:

The People Operations Manager will act as the go-to resource for all BlueLabs employees, ensuring team members are set up for success by providing ongoing coaching, guidance, and support. This person will work closely with the Director of People Operations to align our people and our mission by developing and deploying innovative strategies around recruiting, onboarding, training, employee relations, employee engagement, professional development, and offboarding. The People Operations Manager will oversee a team of two and have experience mentoring and leading other People Operations professionals. The ideal candidate is an empathetic listener, a tactful communicator, and an adept problem solver who is passionate about creating a world class employee experience. 

In this position you will:

  • Collaborate with the Director of People Operations to develop and implement People Operations strategies, policies, and initiatives that align with the organization’s goals and objectives. 
  • Manage the entire employee lifecycle, including, but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, DEI, employee engagement, and offboarding, ensuring that processes and systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage a team of two; one Senior People Operations Associate and one People Operations Associate, providing ongoing support, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to the team as they support various divisions within BlueLabs.
  • Oversee the recruitment process for assigned requisitions, including creating and editing job descriptions, sourcing, screening candidates, supporting the offer process, and liaising with hiring managers to ensure a timely hiring process.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommend best practices, and regularly review employment policies and practices.
  • Develop and promote employee well-being initiatives, such as wellness programs, employee assistance programs, and work-life balance initiatives. Collaborate with the Director of People Operations to develop and implement DEI strategies and programs.
  • Assist the Director of People Operations in the management of the company’s compensation program,  conducting benchmarking and market research to ensure competitive compensation practices, and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Coordinate and execute all employee onboarding and offboarding related tasks and responsibilities.
  • Participate in and support the Director of People Operations with key People-related initiatives such as performance management, compensation planning and leveling, DEI, and learning and development.
  • Create, maintain, and update process documentation and SOPs, while contributing and suggesting process updates and improvements where appropriate.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, conflicts, and grievances, conduct investigations and provide guidance to managers and employees. Refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of People Operations.
  • Lead and participate in ad hoc People Operations projects, such as policy updates, system implementations, process improvements, and organizational change initiatives.

What we are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5+ years of experience across several different People and HR disciplines, including, but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, training, employee experience and engagement, compensation, and performance management
  • 2+ years ​​of experience managing and growing a team of People Operations professionals
  • Proven ability as both a strategist and practitioner of People Operations programs with a strong track record of successfully developing and implementing people programs and initiatives
  • Passion for creating a world-class employee experience and high level of emotional intelligence 
  • Excellent project and process management skills, with a demonstrated track record of delivering results and a bias for action
  • Exceptional verbal and written communicator with proven success earning trust and credibility across departments, teams, and employee groups 
  • Ability to manage shifting and competing priorities and timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, manage conflict, and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional follow through, attention to detail, and ability to execute effectively and in a timely manner
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including empathy and the ability to manage relationships with a diverse set of colleagues 
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS, Bamboo HRIS, and/or LinkedIn Recruiter a plus 
  • A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
