About the jobWe’re looking for a generalist with a solid understanding of HR operations. As the People Operations Manager, your primary focus is delivering an exceptional experience during an employee’s life cycle from onboarding to offboarding. There will be plenty of opportunities to build processes from the ground up and prepare the GWI for our next phase of growth. We currently have just over 500 employees globally (with 100 in the US) but we’re preparing for 1,000 and more!
This role is vital to our global people operations strategy with involvement in projects across all five of our geographies. Reporting into the People Operations Lead (based in the UK), you’ll also be working closely with the wider People & Culture team, collaborating with our People Partners, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition to deliver on key People initiatives that echo our values of Think big, Ask Why and Show respect.
Main responsibilities include:
- Deliver a suite of people processes in the US. Ensure our systems are up to date , compliant, and designed in a way to support GWI globally.
- Review background checks, I-9s, employment verifications, and employee updates, preparing contracts, amendments, and terminations
- Process bi-weekly US payroll inputs and work closely with our Finance team to build a robust payroll approval process.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, payroll, policies and other related topics.Â
- Seek out creative solutions to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to our people processes, escalating when appropriate.
- Provide guidance on immigration matters and support employees looking to relocate to and from the US.
- Confidently manage leave of absence case work (parental leave, extended sick leave etc) across multiple states.
- Manage benefit administration & compliance: medical, dental, vision, wellness, 401k etc.
- Assess and propose process improvements to ensure our tools and ways of working are fit for purpose as we scale.Â

Essentials:
- Strong HR operations experience
- Good knowledge of HR and workplace processes and the fundamentals of US labor law and compliance needs
- Proven experience in managing HRIS and payroll updates
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident and proactive approach in triaging queries and issues related to onboarding, payroll, leave of absence, compliance and offboarding.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives at any one time
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets. Ability to confidently manipulate data to pull key people metrics.Â
