Job Description

A Little About Ooni
Here at Ooni, we're passionate about our people. From our beginnings as a team of 2 back in 2012, we now employ over 270 talented, creative and kind pizza lovers across the world. When you work here, you'll be joining a diverse team that values Kindness, Passion, Innovation, Ambition and Rigor above all else. We live, work and play by these values, and we think it shows.
About the Role
Our People Partners at Ooni are embedded in our organisational structures and tasked with getting to know exactly what teams and individuals need to succeed and thrive at work. The number one ask of the job? No surprises. You know what a department is going to need in terms of people and resources in 12 months time and are working with the leader to get there. You know what makes them tick and how to advocate for them, as well as how to hold them accountable.
This role is a great fit for someone looking for a blend of sleeves up/hands on work designing and implementing interventions to make your partnered business areas as effective as possible. You will also collaborate with a couple of brilliant peers in People Partnering* to identify organisational trends and contribute to Ooni's overall People strategy. Our People team is small but ambitious which means there's plenty of opportunities for company-wide project and improvement work alongside having full responsibility for the whole employee lifecycle and strategic alignment of your business areas.
Ooni has a hybrid approach to work, with 3 days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) in person. Most of your in-office time would be spent at our office at Edinburgh Park, but for this role we also need you to spend some time (at least 1 day per week) at our Product hub in Broxburn, West Lothian.
*no, they didn't write this.
What you'll do:

  • Partner with leaders and managers in your business area to understand their activities and long term plans and playbooks
  • Help to identify people needs (roles, resources, skills, development needs) to deliver on these plans
  • Build brilliant relationships allowing you to act as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders and managers in your business areas with regards to their leadership style and practice
  • Enable autonomy and accountability from leaders and managers
  • Be the "glue" which pulls individual and team contributions back to our vision, purpose and company strategy
  • Read the room; function as a cultural barometer for your business areas and level up team engagement
  • Act as the key point of contact for ER needs in your business areas - discipline, performance management, grievances - and manage these cases with the right combination of rigour, kindness and compliance while balancing business and individual needs
  • Maintain people/succession planning processes for your business areas to support long term visibility of people moves and changes, and ensure strong team structures are built
  • Support the production of business cases and process implementation for hiring, promotions and reward benchmarking
  • Ensure policy and process roll out runs smoothly in your teams
  • Build and maintain up to date employment law knowledge across all relevant regions
  • Support feedback processes for your teams and enable brilliant relationships between team members and managers
  • Contribute to wider People team projects and initiatives across L&D, DE&I, engagement and more.

A bit about you:
You're probably already working in a People Partner or HR Manager role. We might consider a step up candidate from a People Generalist or Specialist role in the right type of business, but we're a small team with a lot to do which means prior experience would be really beneficial. This role will be responsible for partnering with our product design and engineering teams, so any experience with similar functions would be beneficial (but not essential).
You'll be a driven, tenacious and commercially savvy People person who understands that our team exists to facilitate the business's success (which is in turn dependent on the capability, engagement and wellbeing of our people).
We're not fussed about degrees or CIPD membership so long as you've got good experience in relevant roles and can demonstrate that you're a problem solver with a willingness to test and learn as you go, and get stuck into making progress.
Why Ooni?

  • Go to YouTube and search "We are Ooni". We're super proud of our culture and think you'll love it here too. Here are some other reasons:
  • Work for an employer that cares about your well-being! We've got an employee assistance programme which includes on-demand coaching and therapy sessions
  • 35 days of paid time off per year (inc public holidays), plus an additional 5-week sabbatical when you've been here for 5 years
  • £500 every year to spend on your passion - whatever that may be
  • £1,000 to spend on Ooni products each year, plus 50% discount on any other Ooni stuff
  • We're all about giving back. That's why we offer 5 paid days to volunteer each year
  • Continuing Education - we encourage our employees to use our learning opportunities to grow
  • Great pizza every single day if you want it. Yep. Every single day. And we'll teach you to become a pizza pro!

Take a look at our website to learn more about our products, culture and values. If you like what you see, send in your CV with a cover letter to tell us why you want to come on board. We really like nice letters - especially ones that are personalised just for us! - so please please please don't forget that bit. In fact, as a test, there are 15 bonus points* available if you read this properly and manage to make a Kermit the Frog reference somewhere in your cover letter.
*points may or may not be worthless, but hey - it's worth a shot.
Having a fantastic culture is really important to all of us at Ooni. We work hard to make it diverse and inclusive and want everyone to have access to the same opportunities. If you would like this advert in a different format or need an alternative method of applying, please let us know. You can email us at [email protected]
