The People/Payroll Specialist will perform HR and payroll duties to support the People Ops team. This individual will assist with a variety of HR tasks from on-boarding, orientations, performance management, policy development and more, to helping to ensure payroll is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all government and state regulations for salaried and hourly employees. This individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level of diplomacy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update digital and electronic employee records, process all change requests and update systems as necessary
- Work with our new HRIS to create and manage workflows to automate a variety of processes
- Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests
- Serve as point of contact with benefit vendors and admins
- Conduct new hire and benefits orientation to build a strong foundation for new employees
- Coordinate all onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees
- Assist in the development and update of company policies and procedures
- Work closely with the Employee Experience Manager processing multi-state, bi-weekly and bi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees (400+ employees); ensuring that the company is in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements
- Respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality
- Take ownership of a variety of corporate admin tasks including filing documents on behalf of Veo, corporate system access management, etc.
- Help manage HR/People programs
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience in an HR/payroll role (knowledge of Rippling HRIS/payroll and Deputy Time & Attendance a plus!)
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll processes and labor legislation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Solid problem-solving skills; meticulous attention to detail while juggling multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
- Must be honest and demonstrate a strong work ethic while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a relevant field preferred but not required
