Job Description
Tulip, the leader in frontline operations, is helping companies around the world equip their workforce with connected apps, leading to higher quality work, improved efficiency, and end-to-end traceability across operations. Companies of all sizes and across industries have implemented composable solutions with Tulip’s cloud-native, no-code platform to solve some of the most pressing challenges in operations: error-proofing processes and boosting productivity, capturing and analyzing real-time data, and continuous improvement.
A spinoff out of MIT, Tulip is headquartered in Somerville, MA, with offices in Germany and Hungary. Focused on composable, human-centric solutions for industrial environments, Tulip is disrupting the MES category and has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Global Innovator. Tulip has also been named one of Energage’s Top Workplaces USA and one of Built In Boston’s “Best Places to Work” and “Best Midsize Places to Work” for 2023.Â
Software systems are complex beasts filled with odd historical intricacies and idiosyncrasies. Tulip is looking for someone who marvels at the complexity of real, production-level systems and finds joy in creating a future-facing vision of how to improve them.Â
About You:
- You are passionate about performance engineering and have a strong drive to optimize software applications and infrastructure for exceptional performance.
- You have a solid understanding of performance testing methodologies and possess hands-on experience with performance testing tools and frameworks.
- You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing you to identify performance bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- You are well-versed in performance monitoring and profiling tools, enabling you to monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and make data-driven performance optimization recommendations.
What skills do I need?Â
- You can pick up new languages/frameworks with ease. We don’t require specific experience with the stack that we use, but we do currently run Go and Typescript services on Kubernetes.Â
- You can communicate as well as you can code. You understand the value of discussion and work best in a team that champions clear and frequent communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute comprehensive performance testing plans and strategies to assess the scalability, responsiveness, and stability of our software applications and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with software engineers and architects to define performance benchmarks, identify key performance metrics, and establish performance goals for our platform.
- Develop and maintain performance testing frameworks, tools, and automated scripts to streamline the performance testing process.
- Monitor and analyze system performance using performance monitoring and profiling tools, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimization techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including database queries, network latency, and system resource constraints.
Key Collaborators:
- Engineering team
- QA team
- TechOps team
- Reliability, Infrastructure and Tooling (RIT) team
