Performance/Operability Engineer

Job Description

Role Reponsibilites:

• Perform aero/industrial gas turbine engine cycle analysis and engine matching using performance simulation tools like NPSS.
• Development of NPSS models and updates to models inclusive of changes in the engine control and/or field learning regarding the performance characteristics of the modules.
• Generate performance tables that characterize the engine parameters to facilitate communications with other engineering teams such as the CIPT's (Component Integration Product Teams).
• Provide daily on-wing engine health monitoring and diagnostics services to air transport operators. Assist to troubleshoot engine operational and performance issues.
• Perform parametric modeling studies for conceptual/Preliminary design of configuration requirements.
• Analyze engine test data and recommend revisions to the control logic for operability and performance functionality.
• Interpretation of engine test, field, and/or production data to define the characteristics of the engine cycle and component performance.
• Perform engine test data analysis, including data reduction; component and system performance evaluation to understand T/O Margin and model updates leading to a data matched model.
• Engine systems stability audits, stall recovery, surge overpressure, starting and control requirements analysis.
• Provide direct and timely feedback to customers on troubleshooting procedures and maintenance recommendations and provide periodic fleet status reports.
• Conduct engine analytics tasks such as shop visit induction performance analysis, engine test performance assessment, trend analysis, and correlation studies relating test cell to on-wing performance.
• Work with customers to troubleshoot engine compliance issues and answer questions on engine performance.
• Training/mentoring junior engineers to further increase proficiency of systems team.
