The manager of Personal Lines oversees and manages the personal insurance service staff to support the renewal and development of new business for the agency. The manager uses creativity and problem-solving skills to create and implement plans to help the department succeed. The manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the personal lines service department while working with the management team to develop and implement organizational strategies, policies, and practices. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Primary Duties
- Responsible for staffing needs of the Personal Lines operations department including recommending staffing adjustments based upon annual revenue projections/workloads.
- Serve as a mentor to operations staff and oversee the personal career development plans for each employee in the department.
- Responsible for the review and revision of departmental procedures and workflows to keep pace with technology advancements, industry or market changes, and/or E&O compliance related issues.
- Responsible for strategic planning on scaling operational effectiveness of the department.
- Accountable for the measurement of staff service efforts including outstanding expirations, overdue activities, book revenue, and/or other metrics so that these results can be effectively communicated as a part of a continuous quality improvement effort.
- Assure compliance with department procedures, utilizing file audit process techniques.
- Assist with training issues, including assessing training needs and assisting in the development of training programs.
- Responsible for traditional management duties including, but not limited to, annual budgeting, limited expense approval, and tracking of staff attendance.
- Assist with integration of any personal operations staff, procedures, and workflowsresulting from a merger or acquisition by Gregory & Appel.
- Manage staff, prepare work schedules, and assign specific duties.
- Direct and coordinate organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Revenue team to ensure quality clientexperience
Experience and Skills
Years of Experience:
- 3 years of management experience is required.
- 6-8 of personal lines experience required, agency experience preferred
Education:
- Bachelor's degree; or combined equivalent years of education and experience
License, Certification, or Registration:
- P&C License is required.
Additional Information:
- Previous management experience within a personal operations department in an independent agency strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of personal P&C underwriting and insurance coverage required.
- Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills necessary.
- Ability to utilize computer programs and understand functionality required.
- Insurance designations such as INS, CISR, ACSR, CIC, CPCU desirable.
