Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacist in Charge to oversee the pharmacy operations and ensure the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, particularly in pain management and acute care, and will be responsible for managing medication administration, compounding medications, and providing exceptional patient service. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of practice within a hospital or acute care setting.
Responsibilities
• Supervise pharmacy staff and manage daily operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
• Oversee medication administration processes, ensuring accuracy and safety in dispensing medications.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including pain management strategies and acute pain management protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients, particularly in pediatrics and IV infusion therapies.
• Conduct medication therapy management reviews and patient consultations to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
• Ensure proper compounding of medications according to established guidelines and protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of all pharmacy activities, including inventory management and quality assurance measures.
• Stay current with advancements in pharmaceutical care practices and participate in ongoing professional development.
Experience
• A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution is required.
• Active pharmacist license in the state of practice is mandatory.
• Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred, with demonstrated expertise in pain management, clinical pharmacy, IV infusion, pediatrics, and medication administration.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
• Experience with compounding medications is a plus.
