The Role:

Clear Street is looking to hire one or more Industrial PhD candidates to do research in financial risk leveraging AI.

The full program will be 5 years with 80% of the time dedicated to research and 20% of the time working with Clear Street. You will be employed by Clear Street but the studies will be done at the university, and the matching department. There will be both a university PhD advisor and an industrial PhD advisor.

We are looking at seeking financing from The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program. WASP is a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. It is the largest individual research program in Sweden.

Possible research areas

• Risk - How can AI provide better risk management and avoid individual and institutional failures?
• Execution - How can AI more effectively execute orders into a market to obtain the best price possible to benefit individuals? (what is the next generation of TWAP, VWAP)
• Funding - How can we leverage AI to optimize the firm's use of cash and collateral?
• Hedging - How can AI construct and manage hedges to avoid unwanted portfolio risk?
• Investment - How can AI be used to construct and manage a portfolio to achieve a specific goal?

You Bring:

• Masters Degree with good academic grades
• Strong interest in AI and and financial technologies
• Commitment and drive to do research.
• 0-3 Years work experience within fintech.
