Summary:
The Republican Herald, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Staff Photographer to join the team in Pottsville, PA! You will work with multi-media platforms including web, mobile, social, and print.
Though most journalists currently work from home, the person hired for this position would be expected to relocate to Pottsville, PA.
What you will do:

• Make story-telling photos for all sections of the newspaper and website, including news, features, and sports
• Cover news and be able to turn around photos quickly on deadline
• Gather accurate and complete information for AP-style photo captions
• Understand the assigned stories and be able to communicate that via photos with context and visual impact
• Maintain photographic equipment and digital archives
• Create online galleries and work with the design hub on page design
• Communicate effectively with reporters and editors
• Edit photos and video from the field and ensure that all visuals are completed on time and delivered as needed

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, photography, communication or equivalent experience
• Prior experience as a staff photographer at a daily or weekly newspaper and as a photojournalist, video and audio creation and editing skills
• Experience with digital content and all social media platforms; page design experience is a plus
• A goal-setter with the vision to achieve them
• Prior experience with Adobe Suite including Photoshop and InDesign
• Flexible schedule is offered to ensure ability to produce each edition
• Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as well as odd hours if necessary or if news requires
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
