The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an imagery scientist on complex technical analysis and production. This position will fill the role of Principal Technical Analyst.

- Prolonged periods of sitting, reading and intense data analysis are typical. This work is mostly sedentary performed in an office setting.
- Incumbent may be subject to psychological screening/polygraph testing as an inherent primary requirement of their position.
- A masterβs degree in a technical related field is highly desired.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience, or additional education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: mastery of advanced multidisciplinary engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment sufficient to apply experimental theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services; extensive knowledge of advanced GEOINT systems, concepts, principles, practices, methods, and techniques; expert knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures; extensive knowledge of the intelligence research and collection methods, techniques, and practices to use multi-source intelligence information systems; knowledge of advanced analytical principles, concepts, and methods to produce detailed analyses of complex information/situations attained from multiple sources, to include database manipulation. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
AND
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge and mastery of a broad range of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of agency, AF, DoD and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
3. Knowledge of a comprehensive range of concepts, principles, and practices in GEOINT data analysis, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to characteristics of foreign ground, air, and persistent infrared sensor systems.
4. Knowledge of administrative aspects of contracts and software licenses, to include procurement policies, preparation of work statements and development plans, cost estimating, etc.
5. Skill in applying analytical and evaluation techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems; skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings, resolve conflicts based on mature judgment and experience, effectively negotiate complex issues, and maintain good working relationships.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
1. This position is covered by the DCIPS, and as such will subject the incumbent to those examinations and or tests that are necessary to obtain and retain a security clearance and any special accesses required by the position in accordance with AFI 36-1101. This position is a testing designated position and as such requires periodic urinalysis testing. Failure to comply with any of the special requirements when required, will subject the incumbent of this position to reassignment or disciplinary adverse action, including demotion or removal.
2. Position is designated special-sensitive and requires ability to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
3. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
4. Work requires knowledge (such as would be acquired through a Bachelor's degree in physical science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline, or its equivalent in experience, training, or independent study) of the principles, concepts, and methods of GEOINT Research and Development capabilities.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
