- Telework may be authorized.
- If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. More information on PCS requirements, may be found at: https://afciviliancareers.com/regulatory/
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- This position is designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements.
- This position will be coded under the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Level certification. This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position.
- The selectee must meet, or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment.
- This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.

- Employee must have graduated with a bachelorβs degree in a physical science or Engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program.
- This position may require 25% travel.
- In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.

To qualify as an physical scientist, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1300/general-physical-science-series-1301/
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary scientific, technical and engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of technical and scientific methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to acquisition, modification, production, sustainment, and logistics principles, concepts, policies, and systems. Knowledge of asset management principles, DoD and AF concepts, theories, policies, directives, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of financial management principles and procedures, and public laws relative to assigned areas of expertise. Knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on the expenditures of funds.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.
Education
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
