Pipeline Software Engineer: Bioinformatics

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional bioinformatician to lead the expansion and development of Protillion’s analysis pipeline. Protillion has made unprecedented advances in high-throughput protein assay technology, requiring the development of tools to analyze the large amounts of data generated at scale. This role will oversee major expansion of Protillion’s pipelines.

Job Responsibilities:

• In close consultation with the scientific team, direct the architecture, development, and maintenance of Protillion’s software analysis pipeline, encompassing diverse large data types including fluorescence images, DNA sequencing reads, and biophysical measurements of protein function.
• Leverage experience and creative problem-solving ability to achieve key goals of the company, including the development of new data analysis applications for clustering, formatting, analyzing, visualizing, interpreting, biological data and sequences, as well as engineering new and variant molecules.
• Responsible for overseeing integration between Protillion’s internal pipeline and various internal analysis tools, as well as external-facing web-based visualization portals.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
• A leader with rich experience in creative data visualization and bioinformatic tool development for protein/nucleic acid sequences at scale.
• Ability to follow (and lead others to follow) software engineering best practices to build robust bioinformatic pipelines.
• Deep experience with NGS sequencing datasets and bioinformatic tools for analysis.
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and biochemical principles and the ability to interpret biophysical data.
