Department Overview

Responsible for developing and maintaining a solutions level vision and roadmap that supports the Company’s strategic goals for MSI’s Secure Products Group. Secure Products Group provides encryption, authentication, and key management solutions for MSI customers. Validate and develop ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers and stakeholders. Must possess a blend of business and technical skills. Must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the customers’ needs.
Job Description

Motorola PKI services enable Motorola products and services with authentic Motorola PKI certificates. Responsibilities of the MPKI team chief architect include:

• Design, plan, execute and test capacity expansions, hardware and software upgrades, supporting Motorola PKI services based on requirements from other Value Streams.
• Design, plan and execute PKI operational activities including creation of new Certificate Authorities and maintaining existing Certificate Authorities using industry best practices.
• Drive future architectural improvements and changes to support anticipated business needs for MPKI service.
• Consultative engagements with other technical teams that plan to use certificates in their products
• Secure workflow design and integration. Designing and implementing how certificates get deployed in products as they are delivered to our customers.
• Solutions level view of design and implementation.
• Lifecycle planning and management of the MPKI solution
• Responsible for supporting the MPKI Operations team in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues and providing guidance for recovery and resolution.
• System design and lab system setup and support
• Document and perform dry run activities in the lab prior to deployment in production environment
• Documenting system level, CMF product and device level requirements for the proper use and consumption of certificates
• Drives technical prioritization for MPKI and CMF features
• Technical lead for 3rd party engagements and integrations, specifically Primekey/Keyfactor and Thales 

Skills and qualifications

• Works well across organizations with IT, SCH and KRK teams
• Communicate well with both technologists and management
• Self starter with strong planning and organization skills
• Proven track record of learning new technologies
• US citizen
• Chicago based, as lab equipment is in the Schaumburg facility and local data centers.

Skills and knowledge that is nice to have, but not required

• Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure and certificate managemen
• Knowledge secure protocols (e.g. TLS)
• Knowledge of Windows OS
• Knowledge HP Server operations and management with VMs (e.g. ESXi, iLO)
• Knowledge of IP networks and planning
• Knowledge of Azure cloud services
• The hiring team will work with the candidate to acquire the required knowledge through training, hands on deployment and operations, and in depth architecture discussions and development.

Basic Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's in Engineering or related
• 5+ years of professional experience

• US citizen
