Plastics Scale Buyer

Position Summary:
The Scale Buyer is responsible for inspecting, grading and purchasing plastic materials. Input and inventory all purchased transactions. Package and ship material as required by sales orders.
- Plan daily unloads around inbound schedule, bull pen, what is being produced, and what footprint is available.
- Keep incoming material flowing to appropriate production areas.
- Work with Account Executives on special purchases to help ensure directions are followed through, and feedback is given when needed.
- Document contamination using pictures and comments so inbound materials are being purchased correctly.
- Weigh and inspect all incoming plastic customer scrap.
- Identify and sort materials, removing and/or upgrading when possible.
- Act as an interim coach for the dock team.
- Input and record transaction data in computer system.
- Operate hi-lo, loader and/or manual processing equipment as needed.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Inventory and ship material as needed.
- Accurately document all steps of the buying agreements.
Qualifications:
- Six months operating small equipment experience preferred
- Knowledge of plastic/paper materials
- Basic computer skills
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Accuracy in operation and attention to detail
- Knowledge in inventory control
- Financial acuity
- Sales skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent written / verbal communication skills
- Safety conscious
