Platform Development Scientist: Protein Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking a protein display technology guru and protein chemistry wizard to creatively develop and optimize molecular biology methods and tools across multiple areas of Protillion’s technology, including protein display directly on an high-throughput chip.

Job Responsibilities:

• Drive development of improvements and optimizations to Protillion’s core high-throughput protein technologies.
• In close consultation with other scientific team members, propose and refine strategic proposals to meet technology development objectives and milestones, including adequate redundancy and contingency planning.
• Keep detailed records in a lab notebook.
• Prepare data for presentation.
• Manage development project timelines, clearly understanding and communicating risks, challenges, bottlenecks and tradeoffs in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Implement SOPs for broader adoption of new protocols within the organization.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field with minimum of 2-5 years relevant experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience with development or optimization of display and selection technologies for protein engineering e.g. based on Phage Display, Yeast Surface Display, Ribosome Display, mRNA display, CIS display, etc.
• Extensive experience with cell-free in vitro transcription and translation (IVTT) protein expression technologies.
• Experience with therapeutic antibody development.
• Familiarity and experience with methods for bioconjugation and labeling of proteins.
• Understanding of protein binding and stability, as well as practical experience with developing, running, and interpreting relevant assays (SPR, BLI, Fluorescence anisotropy, CD, Thermofluor, DLS, etc.).

Also advantageous:

• Background in NGS DNA sequencing methods and protocols
