High Level overview:

Manage infrastructure components such as various platform components, containers and cloud operations. The Platform Engineering role builds and maintains the platforms which form the base for the run of software solutions and services. The Platform Engineers is highly involved in the shift from legacy and network-based environments to cloud based solutions and combines former Network Engineer, System Administration and Storage Administration roles. Platform engineering teams aim to build tooling and infrastructure that increases engineering productivity.

As Amadeus has decided to go to the Cloud, we are supporting, handling shipment and supervise the various onsite cabling activities in the Amadeus POPs (Point of Presence).

While we are still supporting our local 6000m2 big Data Center, we also working on the Colocation facilities to provide the connection environment for our Cloud transformation.

We work with 3'nd Party vendor, coordinate installation & changes in the setup and implement the configuration the internal "Customer" (like Network teams for Firewall teams) would like to get.

Once we are facing problems, we are managing trouble tickets and work with the specific groups to get the failure resolved.

Within this team, we run an Oncall service. This requires (mainly for the Erding part) the availability to be onsite within 1 hour.

Major Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the colocation sites and the physical activities in various datacenters located in all Regions.

• Technical skills on hardware servers/ storage and cabling inside datacenter

• Good skill on capacity to setup rack power / cooling

• Script capabilities to automate actions

• Audit support (ISO27001, PCI-DSS, SOC I and II)

• Good knowledge of and associated platform(s) and tools

• Good debugging and problem analysis skills required

• Hardware Installation Planning and Project Management activities

• Documentation with Microsoft Office, CMDB and Nlyte

• Point of contact for questions regarding future installations (sizing of hardware, infrastructure etc.) in all managed sites

• Testing of new technologies

• Member of the 24/7 On-call rotation team

Relevant Job Experience:

1. Know How / Skills

• Strong communication and presentation skills

• Project coordination (ex deco project with external provider) , support and leadership

• Good analytical skills

• Strong documentation skills

• Script skills (for automation where possible)

• Very good knowledge of server hardware (HP/DELL/EMC/Lenovo), storage hardware (IBM, DELL/EMC, Brocade) and network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5, PaloAlto)

• Very good knowledge in connectivity services and cable standards and cabling systems (fibre optic, IBM/FTS, Cat5/6)

• Knowledge of Storage Area Network principles and standards

2. Seniority

• Minimum of 3 years work experience as similar to e.g. Hardware Installation Planner or Datacenter Engineer.
