Platform Engineer – Senior Tech (Platform)

This role sits at the core of a modern, API-first platform engineering team responsible for building scalable backend systems that power player experiences such as progression, rewards, streaks, leaderboards, and account management. You will design and develop highly flexible and data-driven architectures that support multiple game modules while remaining easy to configure through lightweight CMS-style tooling. The environment is fast-paced, product-driven, and highly collaborative, blending engineering excellence with AI-augmented workflows. You will contribute to systems that directly impact user engagement and real-time digital experiences at scale. Working in a globally distributed team, you will collaborate closely with game engineers and product stakeholders to deliver robust, high-performance services. This is a hands-on senior role where architecture, scalability, and innovation come together.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs following an API-first architecture approach.
• Develop scalable systems for player accounts, progression logic, rewards engines, and leaderboard functionalities.
• Architect flexible, data-driven solutions using configuration-based approaches (e.g., JSON-driven logic instead of hardcoding).
• Work on cloud-based infrastructure including compute, storage, databases, and distributed systems.
• Support and enhance lightweight CMS-style tools to enable dynamic system configuration.
• Collaborate closely with game engineers to integrate backend systems into gameplay experiences.
• Leverage AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, and system optimization.
• Ensure systems are modular, scalable, and capable of supporting multiple game modules efficiently.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems for consumer-facing or high-scale digital products.
• Strong expertise in API design, microservices, and distributed system architecture.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent.
• Experience designing data-driven systems using configuration-based approaches (e.g., JSON or similar).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code or similar).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design scalable and maintainable systems.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, globally distributed teams.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, with strong communication skills in professional contexts.
