Platform Engineering Architect

What you’d be doing: 

• Make data-based decisions to continuously improve the availability, performance, and maintainability of our services. 
• Create and communicate architectural decisions, features and processes through documentation and demos, and presentations to senior leaders. 
• Identify and drive resolution for issues in design, security, and system performance. 
• Review cross-squad technical roadmaps and provide long-term technical direction to the organization. 
• Mentor and coach engineers through pairing, design, and code reviews. 
• Research new technologies and introduce them to the organization where appropriate. 

We’re looking for someone who has: 

• Experience designing, developing and maintaining distributed systems. 
• Demonstrable track record building new and rearchitecting existing services for performance and scale. 
• Experience in technical leadership in cross-functional teams and guiding the technical direction of projects. 
• Experience developing visual and written architectural plans to aid the organization’s understanding of current and future-state architectures. 

Highly preferred candidates also have: 

• Experience with common development frameworks such as Spring Boot, Restlet, REACT, Angular etc. 
• Experience with multiple architecture design patterns such as, Backend for Frontend, API Gateway, or Microservices. 
• Understanding of modern storage solutions and their distinct uses in a distributed system. 
• Experience using cloud platforms and/or containerized application deployments, especially AWS and Kubernetes. 
• Experience in Insurtech or Fintech environments.
