PMO Director
Job Description
Join Thermo King as a Project Management Office Director in Minneapolis, MN! As the Project Management Office (PMO) Director, you are responsible for end-to-end program/project management practices, facilitating business transformation and driving increased adoption and adherence to Trane Technologies PDP/PPM and Thermo King internal PMO standards and processes. The scope of responsibilities include Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Project Portfolio planning and prioritization, demand management, pipeline, project and financial management; to include deployment and adherence to program management standards (PDP/PPM); effectively managing the project pipeline to optimize delivery; financial management activities to ensure we are responsibly and effectively managing budgets; resource management activities to ensure effective utilization and capacity management; and developing and maintaining the overall project execution goals of the company on behalf of the business Senior Leadership Team.
Work arrangement: This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office) and will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partnership with Functional Leaders to drive Product to Project portfolio prioritization to budget as part of Long Range Plan (LRP) and AOP Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
- Partnership with external councils and business partners to drive PMO baseline and improvement strategies
- Define, measure, and improve PMO project execution performance
- Define, design, standardize and deploy standard stakeholder partnership and management best practices in projects and staff
- Partner with cross-functional department leaders to understand their portfolio, business strategy, prioritization, etc. to facilitate pipeline management and project execution across the organization
- Facilitate Gate and project reviews to drive business project execution maturity and alignment along with portfolio and project metrics
- Collaborate, define, design, communicate, deploy and manage all methodology standards for the Thermo King Business Unit
- Drive PPM tool benchmark, alignment to business and improvement in collaboration with Enterprise PMO council
- Provide executive visibility to project, program, portfolio and functional level status, issues, risks, costs, etc.
- Drive project benefit and financial measures in projects and system framework
- Oversee Demand Control processes, resource planning/scheduling, delivery management, business Change Management, Benefits Realization Management, and strategy refresh components of the portfolio
- Guide and coach program and project managers on a day-to-day basis
- Responsible for deployment of company wide deployment of PDP/PPM Project Management processes, governance, and project performance standards
- Lead and influence others including those more senior
- Enable and grow project leaders by being responsible for educating, certifying, and providing ongoing reinforcement to the organization about program/project management methodologies and practices
- Analyze project data and monitoring ongoing adherence to processes. Oversee and manage process auditing initiatives in close partnership with the PM managers/leaders
- Represent and ensure Project Management community needs and requirements are understood and represented on system and process change initiatives
- Manage roll-out plans and education activities around process and system change initiatives
- Maintain oversight and reporting metrics for the entire project portfolio
- Ability to travel 10-25% is required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum 12 years of work experience in project or program execution is required. Other relevant degrees may be considered
- 7+ years of people management experience required
- PMO management and leadership experience is required
- PMI or PMP Certification is required (or be obtained)
- Master's Degree, MBA or Advance Program Management Accreditation is preferred
KEY COMPETANCIES
- Project portfolio, prioritization and demand management preferred
- Scrum | Agile Methodology experience preferred
- Former People Leadership preferred

- Understanding of Financial Management processes
- Ability to guide and supervise program and project managers on a day-to-day basis
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams, leading people

Base Pay Range: $175,000 - $225,000 annually
Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.
