Overview

Axle is standing up a Project Management Office (PMO) that will set and maintain project management best practices across our companies and projects. The PMO Manager will support defining and managing the PMO and help instill strong project management practices across Axle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development of a PMO charter that defines the purpose, scope, roles, responsibilities, authority, and governance of the PMO
  • Develop and implement a PMO maturity model that outlines the current and desired levels of project management capability and performance across Axle and our Lines of Business
  • Identify necessary resources, training, and education programs for the PMO staff and the project teams
  • Execute the PMO strategy by defining metrics, project execution rules and standards, training our PMs and task leads, establishing standardized processes for project management and delivery, creating a centralized knowledge database for capturing and sharing lessons learned, and improving transparency
  • Define the reporting, procedures, processes, and tools that the PMO will use to monitor, control, and improve project performance and outcomes
  • Implement the PMO in stages to minimize disruption and ensure smooth adoption by the organization
  • Continuously improve the PMO by collecting feedback, measuring results, identifying gaps, and implementing changes as needed

Qualifications:

  • A PMP certification or equivalent is required
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, business administration, or a related field
  • Advanced project management skills; at least five years of direct project management experience in Government Consulting
  • Experience managing multiple contract types: Fixed Price, Cost Reimbursable, Time & Materials
  • Knowledge Management acumen; ability to build sophisticated and logical SharePoint repository structures and educate users and enforce consistent usage
  • Incredible attention to detail
  • Hands on experience with project management financial tools such as Business Central, Excel, and related tools for tracking project burn rates, Estimates at Completion, profitability and other key project financial data and metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to assess tradeoffs in exceptional service delivery and project financial results and advise Project Managers and Executives about alternative approaches within various scenarios
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Critical thinking, interpersonal, leadership, and risk management skills
