This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Employee must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Applicants must successfully graduate from the United States Army Military Police School Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire date; unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
- Applicants must have successfully graduated from a DoD, Federal, National, or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- This position requires certification in cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
- This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm, qualify with their assigned weapon and remain proficient in the use of their assigned weapon and police related equipment.
- Must meet the conditions of employment identified in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56; "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program,". Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
- This position requires an initial and periodic medical examination to assess your ability to take the Physical Ability Test and to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
- This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- This position requires applicants to pass a drug test prior to employment and be subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- The position requires the selectee possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime
- Official Temporary Duty (TOY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent is required to wear prescribed uniform.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves informing individuals of their rights as suspects and/or witnesses; enforcing traffic regulations or laws; taking charge of a crime or accident scene and restricting access; or arresting violators. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- This position may offer a recruitment bonus to individuals who are newly appointed as civilians in the Federal Government.
