Summary

This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes. As a Policy Advisor, you will develop and lead implementation of policies and strategies to counter terrorist financing, money laundering, proliferation financing, sanctions evasion, and other financial crime threats using the full range of Treasury tools and authorities.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-13: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:
-Monitoring developments in illicit activities such as anti-money laundering/counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and financial issues; AND
-Assist with creating policies on illicit financial threats to the U.S; AND
-Experience communicating results of research and analysis and making policy recommendations to senior decision makers; AND
-Engaging with the public, international organizations, or foreign governments on policy issues

Specialized experience for the GS-12: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:
-Assist with creating policies on illicit financial threats to the U.S; AND
-Experience communicating results of research and analysis; AND
-Engaging with the public, international organizations, or foreign governments on policy issues.

Specialized experience for the GS-11: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:
-Preparing briefings, policies, or finished documents.; AND
-Engaging with the public, international organizations, intelligence community, or foreign governments.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related; OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; or LL.M., if related; OR
You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 2 years may be combined with experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

Specialized experience for the GS-9: You must have one year of Specialized Experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:

-Preparing briefings, policies, or finished documents;

OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR
You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of one year may be combined with experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resumΓ©.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
