Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Policy Analyst for MITRE's Center for Government Effectiveness and Modernization (CGEM) P851 Veterans Health Systems and Strategy Department, you will provide policy analysis, strategic and operational support, understand federal rules and regulations, contribute to deliverables and identify stakeholders for engagement.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the policy landscape on the federal level as well as a clear comprehension of federal processes and procedures including but not limited to the federal budget and oversight process. This candidate would be expected to support multi-disciplinary teams with a variety of health and non-health expertise and skillsets. This role will also require and embrace the ability to write very well--- distilling complex information into high level deliverables while thinking creatively about ways to have a positive impact on Veterans health. A writing sample with some level of policy analysis is requested as an accompaniment to this application.

• Work with MITRE colleagues and VA staff to provide policy analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Utilize business, project management, and consulting tools/principles
• Coordinate strategic plan and calendars including staffing of those plans and managing any requisite engagements
• Participate in the drafting and development of policy products and sponsor deliverables such as white papers, briefings, environmental scans, gap analyses and recommendations for that will provide value and address our government sponsor's needs
• Identify key stakeholders across the policy landscape
• Support multi-disciplinary teams with a variety of health and non-health related backgrounds to develop solutions that serve the sponsor

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science; Public Policy or relevant field and at least 2 years' experience in policy, government or related field
• Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
• Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining VA Suitability
• Knowledge of federal policy and procedures preferably around healthcare
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both in writing and verbally
• Background and applied knowledge of policy analysis tools
• Ability to operate and leverage disparate skillsets
• Experience applying business, project management, consulting tools and principles; advisory or consulting experience
• Stellar organizational skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Political Science, Public Policy or relevant field and 2 years' experience in health or veteran policy, government or related field
• Ability to draft policy documents and/or regulations and rulemaking
• Understanding of Veteran's healthcare policies and systems including recent trends around Veterans' health
• Ability to understand federal organizational charts
