Job Description
POLITICO is seeking an enterprising and energetic editor to lead a reporting team focused on political data: researching, compiling and analyzing it for stories, graphics and more. The job requires a love of data and expertise working with it. Keen knowledge of politics is paramount, as is a collaborative spirit. The unit that this editor leads will be part of the politics team, and it will partner often with reporters who cover campaigns as well as Congress, the White House, policy and more.
We are looking for someone with the ability to work with reporters to bring their best ideas to fruition - from brainstorming novel approaches to political data reporting through to publication. This is one of Washington's most exciting and challenging beats as we head into the thick of the 2024 election cycle, and this editor will play a crucial part in ensuring our best-in-class campaign coverage excels against stiff competition.
What You'll Do:
- Manage and edit a high-performing group of reporters with varying levels of experience
- Help conceive data-driven campaign and elections coverage that resonates with our audience of political obsessives
- Work with other teams across the newsroom to compile and analyze data that enrich their reporting
What You'll Need:
- A track record of success in political data reporting
- Experience managing and coaching reporters or researchers
- A rigorous commitment to fair-minded, nonpartisan journalism
