Portfolio Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage and perform month-end close process including preparation of financial reporting packages and commentary to owners/partners
• Account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, variance analysis, ad hoc reporting, and miscellaneous projects
• Oversee and follow-up with property management regarding resident ledgers, Account Receivable Resident Aging and Gross Potential Revenue Report/ Vacancy Rent posting
• Miscellaneous support related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Resident Security Deposits, and lease audits
• Preparation, validation, and tracking of detailed quarterly portfolio metrics around valuations, operations, and performance multifamily real estate portfolio
• Compile and analyze detailed budget variance reports, income, expense, capital expenditures, leasing costs, NOI, cash flow, and quarterly forecasts
• Assist in revenue management and budgeting through data mining and system generated analysis
• Preparation of annual property budgets and business plans, with input from ownership, corporate leadership, and property management
• Ability to handle tight deadlines, ad-hoc and miscellaneous requests as required

Attributes

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• 3 years+ experience and advanced knowledge of accounting
• Preferred basic knowledge real estate and residential accounting
• Strong analytical skills, self-motivating with a proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, comfortable with changing conditions and finding unique solutions to complex issues
• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with all Microsoft Office Suite Applications
• Ability to think independently as well as work in a team environment
• Excellent communication, problem solving, procedure and workflow structuring skills
• GAAP reporting experience a must, Tax and IFRS reporting experience a plus
• Travel to sites may be required at times
