Job Description:
The Portfolio Finance and Reporting Manager would support a team of finance professionals who price and underwrite projects, execute structured financings, and manage post-financing communications and reporting. Highland finances its projects with a combination of equity, tax-equity, debt, and government proceeds. The company’s portfolio of financed projects continues to grow, offering an opportunity to develop and shape investor relations activities across the company through active portfolio management. Highland is seeking a process-oriented professional for an asset management role that requires an understanding Highland’s financings. The manager will serve as liaison to investors to ensure reporting obligations of Highland’s equity and tax-equity partners, lenders, and government counterparts are met. In addition, the Manager will be responsible for responding to investor, lender and government inquiries relating to projects (pre- and post-financing). The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, unstructured environment, constantly collaborating with various internal and external teams to meet deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Portfolio Management: Reporting
- Understand Highland’s financings and the financial model, developing effective processes and
- executing plans for communicating with: Investors (equity and tax-equity), Lenders, Government (grants/rebates)
- Responsible for developing and managing reporting obligations for the portfolio of assets, including delivery of and compliance with requirements (i.e., financial information and operating data)
- Responsible for post-financing document preparation
2. Portfolio Management: Collections
- Responsible for developing and managing process for collection of grant/rebate funding, understanding the impact of collection timing on the company’s financings, as well as its cash management
- Monitor the status of awarded state and federal grant and rebate funding, with ownership over award collection
- Support FP&A by providing accurate and timely updates to inform cash management activities
3. General
- Managing questions from, and responding to investor, lender and government inquiries relating to projects (pre- and post-financing)
- Assess need for portfolio management system(s), vetting and implementing systems in collaboration with colleagues across the organization, as needed
- Support various aspects of financings, including but not limited to: Proposal writing, Due diligence, Consultant reports, Financial model assumptions, Approvals/committee review
- Manage various tracker and tool updates and dissemination, as needed
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with external stakeholders (i.e., investors, lenders, and government administrators) and internal colleagues (finance, legal, market development, and operations) to complete deliverables
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years in Finance, Capital Markets, Asset Management, Government Relations, Investor Relations, or Grant Management with an emphasis on project management
- Previous investment banking, project finance banking, government financing, asset management, financial reporting, or similar experience
- Experience managing large projects with multiple stakeholders and meeting time-sensitive deliverables
- Managing reporting requirements and/or deal experience is required
- Experience leading process improvements is required
- Basic accounting and tax knowledge is preferred
- Previous experience working with the federal government is preferred
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel
- Ability to present complex information succinctly and efficiently to internal and external audiences, including financing counterparties
